Antonis Mouzakis Participates in High-Level Diaspora and Tax Policy Discussions at the European Parliament

You declare your worldwide income in the country where you are a tax resident - whenever you are tax resident, you must report all income earned around the world.

During his recent visit to Brussels, Antonis Mouzakis participated in the 5th thematic discussion series organized by the Greek Community of Brussels at the European Parliament’s VoxBox venue. This is an initiative dedicated to strengthening dialogue between the Greek diaspora, European institutions and national authorities.

The event brings together institutional representatives, policymakers and academics to address issues affecting Greeks living abroad and to elevate the concerns of the diaspora within the broader European public discourse.

As part of his visit, Mr. Mouzakis attended proceedings at the European Parliament and met with senior political and institutional figures, including Kyriakos Pierrakakis, President of the Eurogroup and Greece’s Minister of National Economy and Finance, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Finance Thanos Petralias, as well as Members of the European Parliament Manolis Kefalogiannis, Giorgos Autias, Eleonora Meleti, Eliza Vozemberg, and Dimitris Tsiodras.

The discussion focused on practical tax and financial matters concerning Greeks of the diaspora and residents of Belgium, with particular emphasis on taxation, pensions and cross-border obligations between Greece and Belgium. The session also explored the implementation framework of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTA), while offering practical insights into pension, inheritance and tax-related issues affecting professionals, employees of European institutions and members of the international Greek community.

Mr. Mouzakis’ participation underscored the growing importance of informed cross-border financial dialogue and the need for closer collaboration between institutional stakeholders and the Greek diaspora community across Europe.
